Dr. Renee Mehrra who has a doctorate in Public Health is an award-winning prominent broadcast journalist in the USA. She is an unwavering community activist, motivational public speaker, voice-over artist, and influencer with a burning passion for accurate and compelling storytelling, Her signature show- “Renee Mehrra Report” has delivered top-notch quality content to its audience in an informational and entertaining style for several years.
Dr. Renee Mehrra is the President of Reenbow Media LLC, an advertising, broadcasting, and public relations company in the US.
She is an ambassador of Yoga, Ayurveda, and Meditation, and her active engagement in complementary and integrative medicine has helped to create an exponential awareness in the public on health management and disease prevention, especially in minority communities.
She serves on the Board of NCCBAM (National Certification and Credentialing Board for Ayurvedic Medicine) and is a member of AAAP ( American Association of Ayurvedic Professionals).
She was appointed President of the National Indo American Press Club for North America and Canada in 2018.
She was the emcee in September 2019 at the United Nations, for a special program, “Leadership Matters: Relevance of Gandhi in the Contemporary World,” hosted by India’s Prime Minister Modi which had several heads of state as participating dignitaries.
Dr. Mehrra is the Chair of the Public Relations and Social Media Committee of Community Board of Queens 6, as well a member of the Aging, Social Services and Disabilities Committee.
Dr. Mehrra was elected to the prestigious Board of Trustees of the Parliament of the World’s Religions in 2019 and appointed as secretary and the Chair of the Communications Committee. Dr. Mehrra was the Associate Director, Department of External Affairs for NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens for two years from November 2014- January 2017) She has served as an advisor in the Women’s Cabinet to the NYC Mayor’s office of Immigrant Affairs and as a Commissioner on New York City Commission on Human Rights. She is a member of the New York State Public Health Association, and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
An indefatigable advocate for the South Asian community and a civic and community educator, Dr. Renee Mehrra has dedicated herself to addressing the needs of immigrant communities of the tri state area through television and print media and her nonprofit organization POWER (Providing Our Women Equal Rights) to deepen their awareness about their rights as New Americans so they can create their own stories of success. She has been invited as guest speaker at different academic institutions including, Far Rockaway High School, St John’s University and Queens College. Through the years, she has fostered and built positive working relationships with media partners, community leaders, civic organizations and politicians and has received many awards from appreciative immigrant and social justice partners.
Dr. Mehrra was the first South Asian woman to run for NYC Council twice to make a tangible difference in the lives of New Yorkers and break the last frontier for her community. Despite her loss, she was able to inspire and empower minority communities in civic engagement and social justice. She was given special recognition for her community and media service on the occasion of the prestigious Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas (honoring People of Indian Origin) by the Consulate General of India in New York in January 2020.
